Kindness during World War I

By Growing Writer, Addox Gobin (Student, 6th grade)
On December 25, 1914, during World War I, the British and German arranged a truce for Christmas Day. Soldiers began to venture into no-mans land on Christmas Day. Troops from both sides began to play games, talked, and took photographs with each other. The soldiers even set up goalposts and played a series of soccer matches in no-man's land. For a brief moment, the soldiers could forget about the tragedies of war and see each other as just another human being. This event is just one example of how kindness can emerge out of some of the most bitter times.
