Barnesville School of Arts & Sciences is delighted to bring back a cherished fall tradition — Apple Wednesdays.
Kay'La Portee
From September through November, students enjoy crisp, locally grown apples from Kingsbury’s Orchard, a family-run farm with over 100 years of history located just 3.5 miles from campus. The partnership not only provides students with a healthy, seasonal snack, but also fosters meaningful connections between the school and the surrounding agricultural community.
Apple Wednesdays are about more than enjoying a crunchy bite. The tradition serves as a hands-on lesson in sustainability — highlighting the importance of supporting local farms, choosing fresh, regional produce, and reducing waste through composting. Each apple shared helps students see the impact of their choices on both personal health and the environment.
As the season unfolds, Apple Wednesdays will once again bring students together in celebration of learning, community, and the simple joys of fall.
Our teaching encourages students to explore how subjects relate to one another, helping them to make connections that spark inquiry and deepen understanding.
