Students Honor Those Who Served on Veteran's Day

To begin, Barnesville's Student Council shared readings about Veteran's Day, including President Biden's Veteran's Day Proclamation. The Barnesville community was fortunate to welcome three Guest Veteran Speakers to share a few remarks about their military service.

Christopher Ash was born and raised in Bartlett, Illinois. In 2009, Christopher enlisted in the United States Navy as a radar specialist and later became a paralegal specialist. He was deployed many times for Operations Enduring Freedom to help fight against the War on Terror. He served a 10-month deployment to help with the political distress in Libya, and upon returning he was stationed in Washington, D.C. In D.C. he traveled frequently to GITMO for the 9/11 trials. He left the military in 2020 and began working with the DOJ until transferring to the DIA.

Jason Bennett was born and raised in Houston County, Georgia. In 2002, Jason enlisted in the United States Marines as a Gunnery Sergeant. He was deployed many times for Operations Enduring Freedom to help fight against the War on Terror. He left the marines in early 2022. Currently, he still serves on a military base as security.

Danny Farrar was born and raised in Crewe, Virginia. In August 1998, Danny enlisted in the United States Army Infantry. He was deployed many times for Operations Enduring Freedom to help fight against the War on Terror. He left the Army in 2006. Danny grew his own SoldierFit franchises, and started a non-profit organization, Platoon 22, to help veterans transition to civilian life. The ceremony concluded with a Veteran's Day song performance.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, students continued the Barnesville School tradition of lining our driveway with flags. Thank you to ALL of our veterans for their service! 🇺🇸
