Barnesville 6th Graders Explore Ancient Egypt at the King Tut Exhibition

Kay'La Portee
On December 4th, the 6th-grade class of BSAS embarked on a memorable field trip to the King Tut Exhibition in Washington, D.C., where they explored the wonders of ancient Egyptian history and culture. The trip complemented their classroom studies and provided a hands-on opportunity to connect with their teachings. Allowing students to experience their history lessons in an immersive way made the King Tut Exhibition exciting! Leaving students with a deeper understanding of ancient Egypt culture, religion and art.

This exhibition
featured many artifacts from the tomb of King Tut, the boy pharaoh whose story continues to fascinate the world. From golden treasures to everyday items used over 3,000 years ago, each artifact told a story of life in ancient Egypt. The students were thrilled to see these items making history come alive. Students were especially captivated by the golden mask of King Tut. Viewing it up close allowed students to truly take in images and readings from the classroom.

“6th grade learned quite a bit and made many connections between what we are learning in class, and what the students saw first-hand at the museum.”
“ It was definitely worthwhile to attend”, said Mr. Krebs, Middle school social studies teacher, who organized the trip. Their experience on this trip bridged the gap between the past and present, bringing their history lessons to life beyond the pages of a textbook.
