Barnesville Celebrates Nigel and Gus at State Nationals
Barnesville is elated as two of its own, Nigel Hart and Gus Smith competed at State Nationals! Their hard work and talent brought them to this incredible milestone. The Barnesville Community stands strong supporting talented and speedy individuals. Nigel and Gus embodied the spirit of perseverance and teamwork, making everyone proud with their performance!
Nigel, a hardworking 4th grade student, achieved an amazing accomplishment alongside his cross-country teammates by winning the State AAU Championship. Nigel’s dedication, perseverance, and team spirit were key to this remarkable achievement, and the Barnesville community couldn't be prouder. Moving forward to State Nationals, we know that Nigel and his teammates gave it their best and had fun in the process.
At the meet, Nigel was happy to see a fellow friend and student, Gus Smith, also running at Nationals. Gus Smith is a diligent 7th grade student, with an amazing achievement, running at State Nationals! Running being one of many passions of Gus, he strives for greatness in everything he puts his mind too!

“I had fun, and I trained really hard. The thing I had most fun with was with my friends! I had a lot of problems that I had to overcome, eventually I overcame them, and I became a good and fast runner. All thanks to the faith, the passion and the drive!” says Nigel. From long practices to rigorous training, Nigel has proven that hard work and determination truly pay off.
Gus and Nigel's commitment to improving their skills and supporting their team encourages us all. The Barnesville School of Arts and Sciences extends its warmest congratulations to Nigel and Gus for their outstanding performance. Barnesville is thrilled to support both athletes on this incredible journey. Congratulations, Nigel and Gus!
